Flat & Metal Roof Waterproofing in Portland & Vancouver
Protect Your Flat or Metal Roof from Water Damage
Here in the Portland and Vancouver area, rain is a large part of our lives. A pitched roof is designed to let all water run straight off, but a flat or very low slope roof can be a little trickier.
Over time, extensive exposure to water can damage a flat roof and lead to big problems. If water begins to collect in a sagging spot, it will likely soften and begin to leak. When this happens, you’ll have mold to deal with– not to mention a massive repair job. When roof damage reaches this point, it can cost thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars.
Most commercial and industrial buildings throughout Portland and Vancouver have flat or metal roofs. Even a few of the eclectic homes in this area were built with them.
If you have a flat or metal roof, it’s important to ensure it is safe, strong, and will stand the test of time (and heavy rain).

Our Flat and Metal Roof Waterproofing Services
Here at Rock Solid Waterproofing, we offer a variety of waterproofing products and methods. All our flat and metal roof sealing options are flexible, adaptive, and highly resistant to UV rays and weathering– even through extreme temperature fluctuations.
Metal Roofs
Metal roofs are best sealed with the Acrylic Elastomeric method. The seams are strengthened with the fabric, screws are caulked, and then a full base coat and topcoat are applied.
Our crews are trained and certified in all the preparation and coating products we use for metal roofs.
Flat Roofs
Flat roofs can be re-sealed with the following options:
- Acrylic Elastomeric Coating with Embedded Fabric. The fabric significantly increases the tensile strength, allowing the roof to expand up to 300% without cracking or breaking. This coating is ideal for roofs with multiple and unusual penetrations since it can be easily and quickly formed around irregular shapes.
- Hypalon Synthetic Rubber. This premium product is heat-welded on the seams and can hold ponded water indefinitely. Life expectancy is unknown since it has been in place on roofs for over 47 years without a failure. Simply the finest product available.
- PVC. This product is also heat-welded at the seams. Thicker materials at 50 or 60 mils slow down degradation. However, UV rays can cause cracking and failures over time. This is a good intermediate product.
Whether you have a flat roof on your home or place of business, it is a good idea to get it checked every 2-4 years to ensure it is standing up to time and the elements.

Our Proven Secret to Success
In 2005, my wife Linda and I were inspired to build our own waterproofing business after our basement flooded. Leaning on my years of experience in the construction industry, I created a one-of-a-kind waterproofing process that produces amazing, trustworthy results.
Here at Rock Solid Waterproofing, we are dedicated to repairing the root cause of the issue, not just the symptoms. This solutions-oriented mindset means the work we do is meant to last… not just cover up a bigger problem.
Our goal is to help prevent future issues and keep your home or business safe.
